DM directs for identifying accident-prone spots on Sem-Mukhem road

While chairing a meeting of the district road safety committee on Tuesday, the district magistrate Prashant Arya took a serious note of frequent accidents on the Sem-Mukhem rural motorway and directed the departments concerned to identify the accident-prone locations, prepare a detailed improvement proposal and send it to the State government soon. He further said that signage and barriers should be installed and repairs should be done to stop recurrence of accidents.
He also said that violations of traffic rules like overloading, over-speeding, drunk driving and driving sans helmet would be sternly dealt with.
The DM was informed that
the transport department had issued 47 challans and police department, 191 challans in October. Besides, in October, 97 challans were issued for two-wheeler riders not wearing helmets.
The DM directed the police and transport departments to conduct joint checking campaigns to effectively curb road accidents and ensure compliance with the rules.
