DM Bansal suspends Patwari following irregularities

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun

Taking note of a complaint, the district magistrate Savin Bansal has suspended revenue sub-inspector (Patwari) Jai Lal Sharma. He has been attached to the Kanungo office in Tehsil Kalsi for the duration of the suspension period.

DM said that residents of Lakhamandal, Chakrata, Dehradun, submitted an affidavit along with audio evidence (in pen drives) as part of their joint complaint. They alleged that Sharma had been openly extorting money from farmers, tenant farmers and impoverished members of the scheduled tribe and scheduled caste communities. This extortion occurred both in cash and online, under the pretence of preparing documents, including fake sale deeds and mutations.

He informed that in light of these allegations, a preliminary investigation conducted by him revealed serious concerns, warranting an impartial and transparent inquiry. Based on the initial evidence of violations of the State Employees Servants Conduct Rules, 2002, he ordered the immediate suspension of Sharma, he said.

Following the DM’s approval, the suspension order was officially issued by the sub-district magistrate Headquarters.

Notably, the Tehsildar of Vikasnagar has been appointed as the investigation officer to conduct a thorough investigation into the case. He has been instructed to complete the investigation within a month and submit his report to the DM.
