The district magistrate Savin Bansal said that prioritising education of promising girls from economically unprivileged families is a key focus for the district administration. He said this following the approval of financial assistance of Rs one lakh each to Jeevika Anthwal (B Com second year) and Nandini Rajput (Class XI) from the CSR fund. The two girls have recently resumed their studies under Project ‘Nanda-Sunanda,’ an initiative aimed at promoting girls’ education. This initiative is meant to ensure that the education of meritorious girls studying under difficult circumstances is not interrupted because of financial constraints aside from paving the way for their bright futures.
Bansal further said that Jeevika’s father has been battling a serious liver disease from the ICU for several months, placing the entire responsibility of the family on her mother’s shoulders.
Her mother had submitted an appeal for a laptop and financial assistance necessary for her education. Considering their plight, the district administration had transferred Rs one lakh from the CSR fund to Jeevika’s account. Additionally, the process of providing a laptop from the RIFLE Fund is also underway, he said.
Bansal further informed that Nandini, a Class XI student, had lost her father in 2018. Her mother works as an Anganwadi worker and also sews part-time to support the family. “Nandini has two other sisters, all of whom are studying in different classes. She aspires to become a doctor by passing the NEET exam. Given her financial hardships, the district administration has deposited Rs one lakh into her bank account from CSR fund,” the DM said.
Addressing the girls, he exhorted them to keep the spark of education alive braving challenges and continue moving forward to achieve their goals.
