PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE /Dehradun

The district administration received 130 complaints in a public hearing programme held on Monday chaired  by the district magistrate, Savin Bansal.  He directed the officials concerned to inform the complainants after their complaints are resolved.  He also stressed on addressing and redressing the public complaints at the earliest and sensitively. “This enhances the people’s  confidence in the administration,” he said.

One of those who turned up at the hearing with grievance was an 82-year-old woman, Santosh. She told the DM that after she had transferred her property to her son, she was left uncared for by her family. The DM ordered officials to register a case under the Maintenance Act. In another case, financial help was approved for a cancer patient Uma Rani from the Rifle Fund. Assistance was also directed for the marriage of a girl whose mother attended the public hearing.

The DM also ordered support for the education of children of single and widowed mothers under the Nanda–Sunanda project. In another case, strong action was directed against a patwari for delaying a land mutation case for 18 months.
