District Panchayat head, deputy & members take oath of office
Need to work in coordination to develop Dehradun into model district- Chauhan
The Dehradun district Panchayat chairperson, vice chairperson and members were administered the oath of office and secrecy at the Town Hall here by the district magistrate C Ravishankar on Sunday. The chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat also attended the function and wished the elected Panchayat representatives on the occasion.
Expressing his views, the chief minister said that a large number of youth had achieved victory in the Panchayat elections. Considering this, the reins of the Panchayats are in the hands of the youth and they will work will full responsibility and contribute their bit to strengthen the Panchayats in the state and achieve the desired level of development by local self governance. The Vidhan Sabha Speaker Prem Chand Agrawal also greeted the elected Panchayat representatives on the occasion.
The district magistrate administered oath to the district Panchayat chairperson Madhu Chauhan and the vice chairperson Shyam Singh Pundir. After that, Chauhan administered oath to the elected members of the district Panchayat. She also administered an oath to them to desist from smoking.
Expressing her views on the occasion, the district Panchayat chairperson, expressing her gratitude to all, spoke of working in coordination to develop Dehradun into a model district. It is vital for Panchayats to be strong for a democracy to be strong, she added.
The Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’, MLAs Harbansh Kapur, Khajan Singh, Munna Singh Chauhan, Vinod Chamoli and other public representatives were also among those present on the occasion.
