In an effort to enhance services for patients, the administration of Deen Dayal Upadhyay District Hospital has taken proactive steps in the hospital to provide relief from the winter cold. The hospital’s medical superintendent Dr Manu Jain said that the winter season can pose additional challenges for patients. To address this, the hospital administration has implemented various measures to ensure patient satisfaction. In the IPD, they have installed room heaters for patients and provided blankets for both patients and attendants, he said.
“The IPD departments are equipped with about 300 beds, which include emergency beds and others. To support this number, around 30 heaters have been made available for patients,” Jain stated.
He also said that in order to enhance services for pregnant women, the hospital administration is planning to install dual air conditioning units in the labour and OT rooms. Specifically, the plan includes about four dual AC units for the labour room and the operating room. This initiative is expected to be implemented soon. Additionally, Jain said that geysers have been installed in both the operating and labour rooms, where deliveries occur, to facilitate frequent handwashing. He said that the installation of the geysers was undertaken with this need in mind.
He stressed that winter medications have also been stocked at the hospital administration. The doctors have been informed about the necessary guidelines related to this season to ensure that satisfactory services are provided within the hospital’s premises.
Jain further said that during winter, children and elderly individuals with lower immunity, are more susceptible to viral infections and other ailments. In light of this, he recommended that they, along with individuals from various age groups, take essential precautions, such as wearing warm clothing and maintaining a balanced, healthful diet.
It will be recalled that the administration of the District Hospital has recently adjusted the Outpatient Department (OPD) hours to improve access for patients as winter approaches. During the summer months, the OPD was open from 8 AM to 2 PM. However, starting November 1, the District Hospital OPD hours have been changed to 9 AM to 3 PM for the winter season.
