District administration to resume Padho Doon Badho Doon campaign

The Dehradun district administration will soon resume the Padho Doon Badho Doon campaign after receiving the final report of the third-party audit of the campaign in which over 30,000 illiterate persons were educated by the administration within about five months.

The chief development officer (CDO), Nitika Khandelwal stated that the audit started over a month ago to determine the literacy level of citizens of the district who were educated under the campaign. She said that the primary teachers had taught the illiterate persons under the campaign for five months while secondary school teachers are currently conducting the audit under District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) of Dehradun and a non-profit organisation Room to Read. According to the CDO, this audit will help the administration to understand the effect of the campaign and help strategise further for it. “The teachers were selected randomly by us for the fair conduct of the audit.

We are expecting the audit report by next week. We want to know the level of basic education of locals, how many can properly read, write and recite their answers considering which, the teachers took oral as well as written tests of the students,” stated Khandelwal. She further added that once the administration gets the audit report, the Padho Doon Badho Doon campaign will be resumed in the district. It is pertinent to mention here that the district administration announced Dehradun as the first district in Uttarakhand that educated all the illiterate people of the district except 5,054 locals who could not receive an education due to certain reasons.
