Thursday, 13 September 2018 | PNS | Dehradun– The co in-charge of Uttarakhand Congress, Rajesh Dharmani said that the focus of his party in the State is on strengthening the organisation in view of the 2019 General Election. Talking informally to the newspersons during his Uttarakhand visit here on Wednesday, Dharmani said that the party has already started a drive to strengthen the organisation from the grassroots. “I am sure that Congress will sweep the election in the State, making a clean sweep of the five seats up here for grabs,” he said. He further said that the newly nominated district presidents of the State party have been asked to form their district units so that the party can smoothly enter the election mode. Dharmani said that after the district units, the block units would be reconstituted to strengthen the party at the grass root level. “We must ensure that the party has robust booth level organisation. I will meet the senior party leaders and also the functionaries of its affiliates,” he said. This is Dharmani’s first visit to the State following his appointment as the co in-charge of the party. On the day, he held closed door meetings with the district presidents of the party. During the meeting, he is said to have directed them to form their units at the earliest. Dharmani, former MLA from Himachal Pradesh, also met leaders of the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) and took detailed feedback about the State of the party’s organisation. In the meeting, he is believed to have taken stock of the party’s prospects in the five Lok Sabha seats the State has.
