Dhan Singh warns agencies on delay in construction works in medical colleges

Taking a stern note on the delay in construction works in medical colleges of the state, the health minister Dhan Singh Rawat has warned that the work executing agencies will be changed if all the pending works are not completed till October 30 this year. The minister took a review of the construction works of the government medical colleges at Vidhan Sabha auditorium on Saturday.

In the meeting the progress report on construction works in half a dozen medical colleges was presented. Rawat said that execution agencies should hand over the buildings they have completed to the department without any further delay. He said that all ongoing works should be completed before October 30. The minister said that the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami would inaugurate the new building in the Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) on October 30. On the ongoing construction works of Rs 331 crore in Soban Singh Jeena medical college, Almora the minister said that the building would be inaugurated on October 2 this year and all pending works should be completed as soon as possible.

The minister asked the officers to ensure that the different projects completed at a cost of Rs 5,926 lakh in the Government Medical College Rudrapur are handed over to the department. He said that the foundation stone laying ceremony of Medical College Haridwar should be organised soon. Rawat disclosed that a sum of Rs 75 crore has been released by the government for the new medical college in Haridwar. He directed the officers that the work on the 1,000 seat auditorium in Government Medical College Haldwani should be completed before December 31 and the work on the burn unit should get over in August month.

The meeting was attended by additional secretary of health and Mission Director of National Health Mission (NHM) Sonika, NHM additional mission director Dr Abhishek Tripathi, health director general (DG) Dr Tripti Bahuguna, director of medical health Dr Vinita Shah, all the principals of government medical colleges and senior officers of work execution agencies.
