A recent surprise inspection by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at Inter-State Bus Terminus (ISBT) has proved to be a boon for the hundreds of people who throng it daily in terms of   sanitation, security and other passenger facilities. Looking happy, passengers and shopkeepers trading in and around the ISBT said that they had no problem while waiting for buses with the complex adorned with   food stalls, ATMs, drinking water points and washrooms.

The officers too agreed and said that things have improved significantly with the previously non-functional display and announcement system being restored. “Improvements are discernible everywhere: drinking water points, seating arrangements and washrooms have been upgraded,” said an officer, adding that all the CCTV cameras are now operational. Another officer spoke about the upgraded security system at the bus station. “Security has been spruced up with deployment of additional security personnel.   They are monitoring things round the clock. Besides, the parking inside the premises has also been reorganised to facilitate smoother movement,” he added.

They further said that the revamping has not been completed yet. More was in the offing, they said and added that tender approval for internal road construction has been finalised.

A shop-owner, Sachin Raturi said that the ISBT is now better managed than before. “Large direction boards have been installed and damaged tiles at platforms are being repaired. Things were ill-cared for a long time and now they are looking up,” he noted.

The chief security officer, Keshvanand Guwadi stated that the CM’s vision of a cleaner and better-managed ISBT is becoming a reality. “Things are not over. More are coming up soon for facility up-gradation and also beautification,” he commented.
