Dhami receives rousing welcome in home district

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami attended various programmes on the second day of his tour of his home district- Udham Singh Nagar on Saturday. He planted a sapling at Pantnagar annexe and cycled as part of an event while also wishing the best to sportspersons. He then boarded a vehicle which was accorded a welcome by local BJP workers in Nagla area. Inaugurating the martyr Amar Dev Bahadur memorial gate at Kanakpur, he announced naming of the government inter college after the martyr. He also assured the parents of the martyr of all possible assistance from the government. He was welcomed in various localities even as he attended various small events along the way. He inaugurated the beautified Aditya Chowk at Kiccha and unveiled the foundation stone for construction of bus stand at Bandia. He was then welcomed on reaching Nanakmatta Dera Sahib where he prayed for peace and prosperity of the people. Dhami said that he had received the affection of the youths and party workers in the district. He exhorted the youths to cooperate with him in achieving the development of the state.

Cabinet minister and minister in-charge of the district, Yatishwaranand, Uttarakhand Forest Development Corporation chairman Suresh Parihar, MLAs Rajkumar Thukral, Rajesh Shukla, Saurabh Bahuguna, Prem Singh Rana, Kumaon commissioner Sushil Kumar and others were also among those present on the occasion.

It is pertinent to mention here that this is Dhami’s first visit to his home district of Udham Singh Nagar after taking charge of the state’s chief minister. Earlier on Friday, the chief minister had participated in a road show in Rudrapur and interacted with local members and office bearers of the BJP. After the roadshow with local MLA Saurabh Bahuguna in Sitarganj, the chief minister departed for his home town Khatima. Earlier, the local Congress workers displayed black flags in protest at Sitarganj and were detained by the police.
