Dhami meets Yadav, seeks support for hydropower projects

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met with Union minister of Forest, Environment and Climate Change Bhupendra Yadav in New Delhi on Wednesday. He sought support for the development and construction of seven hydropower projects in Uttarakhand, which will have a total capacity of generating 647 MW power. 

Dhami emphasised the State’s commitment to maintaining the purity, uninterrupted flow and environmental protection of the Ganga and its tributaries. He also announced plans to establish a sports university in Haldwani, aimed at providing employment opportunities for the youth through sports. Additionally, a proposal to transfer approximately 12,317 hectares of forest land in the Gaulapar area has been submitted to the Forest department. CM further asked that the Union minister instruct the relevant officials to take the necessary action regarding the forest land transfer. In response, Yadav provided in-principle consent and assured his full cooperation.
