Dhami holds pre-budget dialogue, seeks inputs

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the involvement of the general public and experts of different fields should be ensured in the preparation of the budget by the State government. He said this during a pre-budget dialogue held at the CM residence here on Thursday. The pre-budget dialogue series has been started for this puropose in which useful suggestions have been received from members of different fraternities so far. After Nainital, such a dialogue was held in Dehradun to ensure that the budget is that of the common man. He said that along with efforts aimed at increasing the tax revenue various important suggestions will also be implemented. The duration of the rebate given by the Centre to the State in Goods and Services Tax is about to end. It is estimated that this will result in a loss of about Rs 5,000 crore to the State. He stressed on the need for thinking how to compensate for this loss. Stating that Uttarakhand is a State of religion and spirituality, he stressed on the need for moving ahead while taking ecology and economy together. The State will become self reliant only after all people properly discharge their own responsibilities. He also stressed on the need for better operation of industry, business and other spheres. Interactions are being held in various parts of the state to enable industry-commerce function properly. Most of the problems of the industrial sector have been resolved. “We believe that more industries will come to Uttarakhand if the existing enterprises function properly. Our entrepreneur is our brand ambassador,” said the chief minister.

Dhami further said that the state government is bringing simplification, solution and redressal in the work culture. Recalling that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had called the third decade of this century as that of Uttarakhand, the CM stressed on the importance of collective effort to achieve this.
