DGP checks security arrangements in Kedarnath and Badrinath for Char Dham Yatra

The director general of police Deepam Seth inspected the security arrangements in Kedarnath and Badrinath on Thursday as part of the preparations for Char Dham Yatra 2025. He was accompanied by additional director general of police (Crime, Law and Order) V Murugesan. The DGP reviewed security management at Kedarnath along with Rudraprayag superintendent of police Akshay Prahlad Konde .

He visited the temple premises, duty points, token counters and the Astha Path. Authorities have implemented a token system this year to manage pilgrim movement. The DGP directed officials to increase the number of token counters, ensure regular announcements through the public address system and display token-related information on screens for ease of access. He also reviewed crowd control and duty deployment. He instructed that duty charts be clearly defined and that every officer and personnel be aware of their responsibilities.

He emphasised coordinated efforts between local police, paramilitary forces and agencies concerned for strengthened security. He carried out a site inspection at Badrinath with Chamoli superintendent of police Sarvesh Panwar and other officials. He reviewed the route to the shrine, communication systems, traffic management, police accommodation and temple security. He asked officials to coordinate with the temple committee to arrange support for elderly, disabled and ailing pilgrims.

Seth also interacted with personnel from the police force, PAC, SDRF and ITBP deployed at both shrines. He urged them to remain punctual and discharge their duties with sensitivity and accountability. He stated that preparations for Char Dham Yatra 2025 are complete and the police, along with district administrations, PAC, IRB, ITBP, SDRF and other departments, are working together to ensure a smooth and secure pilgrimage.
