The Cooperatives, Health and Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat has said that the cooperative sector in the country has got a fillip due to the creation of a separate ministry of the cooperatives in the central government.
The minister performed Bhoomi Pujan of the grain storage centre of the Multipurpose Kisan Sewa Sahakari Samiti in Sahaspur on Monday. Speaking on the occasion, Rawat said that commendable work in the silage sector is being done in Uttarakhand and the demand of silage is still higher than its supply in the State. He said that special emphasis on increasing Silage production in Sahaspur is being done. He said that cooperative villages are being developed in the State. Rawat said that the number of members in the cooperative committees should be increased. Sahaspur MLA, Sahdev Singh Pundeer said that a large number of farmers are getting the benefit of the Deendayal Upadhyaya scheme in which a loan at zero per cent interest is given.
The registrar cooperative Alok Kumar Pandey said that there is a need to augment the storage capacity of grains in the country.
