With the cold wave condition sweeping across Uttarakhand, the regional meteorological center has issued a warning of moderate to dense fog forming in several places in the plains of the state, particularly, Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts, during the early morning hours on December 22 and 23. In a yellow watch warning issued on Thursday, the center said that the fog might bring down visibility during the morning hours on the two above-mentioned days. Meanwhile, the cold wave conditions would continue to sweep across plain areas of the state for the coming few days.
As per the weather forecast for Friday, the climate would be generally dry in the State, though the sky would be clear to partly cloudy. In Dehradun too, fog is likely to form in the plain areas in the early morning hours on the day. Meanwhile, the mercury in Dehradun continued to settle in the neighborhood of 5 degree Celsius, two degrees below the normal. As per the Met officers, the minimum temperature might dip further in the coming days while the maximum would hover around 22 degree Celsius.
As per the Met officers, it might snow in the places with an altitude of 2500 meters and above from December 23 while the queen of hills Mussoorie and the lake city Nainital might record fresh snowfall from December 28, something the tourists and the hoteliers are expectantly waiting for.
In Dehradun, the day was mostly sunny to partly overcast on Thursday. While the maximum temperature settled at 23 degree Celsius, one degree above the normal, the minimum was 5.4 degree Celsius, two notches below the normal, on Thursday.
Elsewhere in the state, in Pantnagar, the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 22.2 degree Celsius and 3.8 degree Celsius respectively on Wednesday. At Mukteshwar, the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 16.7 degree Celsius and 3.6 degree Celsius.. In New Tehri, the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded were 15.2 degree Celsius and 4.8 degree Celsius respectively on the day. Read more posts…
