Dengue larvae found in 35 houses in Doon

The Health department has identified 35 houses in Dehradun where dengue larvae were found, following a survey conducted by ASHA workers and volunteers on Saturday. The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Dehradun Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma said that as part of an action plan, ASHA workers and volunteers are tasked with carrying out daily dengue awareness campaigns and inspecting for larvae.

On Saturday, ASHA workers surveyed 12027 houses, while volunteers inspected 7,755 houses. Out of these surveys, 35 houses were found to have larvae, with 9 positive cases identified by ASHA workers and 26 by volunteers.

The CMO also informed that, so far, ASHA workers and volunteers have conducted surveys of 2,59,282 houses, revealing that 794 were positive for larvae. Additionally, on Saturday, ASHA workers and volunteers surveyed containers, with 76,239 containers checked by ASHA workers and 63,987 by volunteers. They reported a total of 44 containers positive for larvae. Overall, they have searched 1500686 containers so far, out of which 1,006 have tested positive.

Regarding dengue cases, Dr Sharma stated that no new positive cases were reported in Dehradun on Saturday. This keeps the total number of confirmed dengue cases (ELISA-positive) at 53, which includes 33 patients from Dehradun and 20 from other districts or States. Dr Sharma added that currently five individuals are hospitalised: three at Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, one at Graphic Era Hospital and one at Himalayan Hospital. On Saturday, a total of 61 dengue samples were collected, contributing to an overall total of 3,872 samples collected to date, he said.
