Journalist Rajiv Pratap has been missing for more than a week with the Chinyalisaud municipal council chairman Manoj Kohli now writing to the director general of police seeking a high-level probe in the case.
Kohli stated that Pratap has been missing since the night to September 18 and his car was found on the next day on the banks of the Bhagirathi river though there is no clue about his whereabouts. His family members and locals are agitated due to this.
Pratap has been raising public interest issues and those related to irregularities in governmental departments on the digital media. He had recently filed a report on the purported lack of medicines and improper facilities in the Uttarkashi district hospital, which was widely shared on social media. His family claimed that he was receiving threats after broadcasting this report.
Stating that the district police have taken effective action in this case so far, he warned of public agitation if no action is taken soon.
