The seventh edition of the (DDLF) will take place from November 14 to November 16 at Doon International School, said the festival’s founder, Samraant Virmani, during a press conference on Wednesday. He said that this year’s theme, ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam – Voices of Unity,’ reflects the festival’s vision to create a space where people can speak courageously, listen attentively and celebrate diverse ideas, representation, and creative expression. The three-day event will feature some of India’s most celebrated authors, artists, thinkers and performers.
Virmani said that the DDLF has evolved into a platform that fosters dialogue, empathy and shared creativity. This year, there is a particular focus on inspiring youth to step away from the digital world of smartphones and computers and engage with the real world—the world of ideas, books and human connection. Consequently, the festival will not be streamed on digital platforms like YouTube or Instagram, encouraging young people to attend in person and fully immerse themselves in the spirit of literature.
The festival will also feature a special session with Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, who will join author Venu Agrahari Dhingra for the launch of her book “Leading Ladies – The New Wave of Female Politicians in India.” This session will include engaging discussions on women in public leadership, he said.
Festival director Saumya Kulshreshtha said, “This year’s programming is layered with history, cinema, music, poetry, food, environment, personal narratives and global conversations. With book launches, meet-and-greet sessions, interactive workshops, author conversations, musical evenings and experiences across literature and culture, the seventh edition of DDLF promises to be one of its most vibrant yet.”
In celebration of Uttarakhand’s 25th anniversary, DDLF 2025 will emphasise the cultural soul of the state, showcasing folk traditions from Almora, Pithoragarh and Dehradun.
Additionally, director of Doon International School HS Mann said, “Hosting DDLF at the City Campus is a wonderful opportunity for students and the community to engage with some of the finest minds and voices of our time.”
