Dehradun district magistrate Savin Bansal has asked the officials concerned to submit a verification report of beneficiaries to control the use of fake ration and Ayushman cards. He directed the chief medical officer to submit a verification report of Ayushman card holders within 15 days.
He also instructed the district supply officer to provide complete details of all ration card holders to the CMO for cross-verification. Bansal stated that the district administration has begun the process of verifying eligibility of beneficiaries under public welfare schemes. Instructions have been given to the Civil Supplies department to verify ration cards area-wise. Verification teams will conduct door-to-door checks of applicants’ financial conditions. Only those falling under eligibility norms will receive ration cards. He said that the action follows multiple complaints received about ineligible people obtaining ration and Ayushman cards. In response to these complaints, the administration is focusing on ensuring that only eligible individuals receive scheme benefits.
The DM informed that Dehradun district has over 3.87 ration cards. These include 37,312 under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana, 2.19 lakh under the primary family category and over 1.3 lakh under the Uttarakhand State Food Scheme. So far, the administration has verified 35,393 cards and cancelled 1,445, he added.
