The dedicated control room operating in Dehradun district has received 68 complaints so far regarding disruption in drinking water supply through various channels, out of which 55 have already been resolved and water supply has been restored.
On Sunday alone, six fresh complaints were received, one of which has been resolved while action is ongoing on the remaining, the Dehradun district magistrate Savin Bansal said. He informed that to ensure citizens do not suffer due to drinking water shortages during the intense summer months, the district administration has initiated a 24×7 control room dedicated to addressing water-related grievances.
The administration is committed to providing uninterrupted and clean drinking water to the public and firm instructions has been issued that no complaint should go unresolved. Bansal said that if permanent solutions require more time, the departments concerned must ensure water supply through any means necessary including tankers, mules or alternative arrangements. He stated that a dedicated committee has also been formed to monitor and resolve water-related issues.
The DM informed that complaints received at the control room are being immediately forwarded to the relevant divisions of the Jal Sansthan and Peyjal Nigam for prompt action. The progress on complaint resolutions is being closely monitored. He stated that some of the specific complaints resolved include the restoration of water supply in Subhashnagar, which had been disrupted due to technical issues in a tube well. The Jal Sansthan and Smart City officials carried out necessary repairs and water was supplied through tankers in the interim.
The area now has normal supply. In Indirapuram, a leakage issue was swiftly handled and resolved. At Sant Nirankari Bhawan on Haridwar Bypass Road, a damaged pipeline was repaired. Similarly, a broken pipeline on Turner Road, damaged during ADB and UPCL work, has also been fixed and supply restored. Bansal said that regular monitoring is being carried out in water stressed areas with uninterrupted electricity supply being ensured to all tube wells and pumping systems.
The administration has also publicised toll-free numbers for public awareness. Citizens can lodge complaints at the control room via 0135-2726066 or 1077, he added.
