Decks cleared for Pantnagar airport expansion with land acquisition by airport authority

PNS | RUDRAPUR

While chairing a meeting on the expansion of the Pantnagar Airport-a dream project of the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami-on Thursday, the Udham Singh Nagar district magistrate Uday Raj Singh said that decks have been cleared for the expansion with the Airport Authority being given physical possession of 524.70 acres of land by the Uttarakhand government.

The director of Pantnagar Airport should take possession of the land and start a survey so that the expansion work on the ground starts soon, he said.

The DM further said that the district administration and the Pantnagar airport authority had jointly inspected 524.70 acres of land earmarked for the expansion purpose.  “The tender for demolition of buildings and offices, including those of Pantnagar University which are coming under the purview of the airport expansion scheme have been finalised,” he added.

Notably, 103 acres of identified land had been handed over to National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and instructions given to it to prepare a survey DPR of the National highway shifting under the project. Accordingly, the project director NHAI Vikas Mittal had presented the report of survey DPR to the DM and told him that in view of envisaged traffic system, there was a need to build an underpass before the airport main gate for which they would need a total of 113 acres of land.

The DM said that 103 acres had already been acquired by NHAI. “As far as the remaining 10 acres of land is concerned, that will also be transferred. But before that, the airport director and the assistant director should do a physical inspection and survey,” he added.
