Cyber thugs dupe professor of Rs 8.5 lakh

Cyber thugs have reportedly duped a professor posted at Gurukul Kangri deemed university of Rs 8.5 lakh. The police have registered a case and started investigating the matter. According to the police, professor Ramesh Chandra Dubey received calls on November 24 from two different numbers on his mobile phone. The caller, claiming to be an official of the electricity corporation, talked about Dubey’s electricity connection and bill and gathered information about the bank account while also uploading an application on his mobile phone.

Shortly after downloading the application, Dubey saw a message from his bank about Rs 6.5 lakh withdrawn from one account and Rs two lakh withdrawn from another account. The professor then lodged a complaint with the police. Kankhal police station inspector Mukesh Singh Chauhan said that investigation has been started after registering a case.
