CS tells Railway officials to make Harrawala a fully developed station

Chief secretary Anand Bardhan has asked the Railway authorities to upgrade the Harrawala railway station in Dehradun on the lines of a fully developed station. He assured that the State government will provide the land needed for the purpose to the Railways.

The CS said this during a meeting held to review the progress of different projects of Railways in the State. The Divisional Rail Managers of Moradabad and Izzatnagar divisions and senior officers of the State administration attended the meeting. 

While reviewing the Rishikesh- Karnprayag rail project, Bardhan directed the officers of administration to expedite the cases of Revenue and Forest land transfer. He directed that a joint meeting of Railways, Forest and Revenue departments headed by district magistrate of Rudraprayag should be held for disposing off the cases of land acquisition and transfer for the project. Stressing on timely completion of the important project, the CS directed that his office should be informed about the progress of the project from time to time.  Bardhan said that the roads near the tunnels dug for the project have been damaged and in view of the Char Dham Yatra the Railways should repair these roads immediately.

He suggested that a development plan for the area in the vicinity of Yog Nagri Rishikesh should be prepared and it should be integrated with the plan of the Railways.

The CS directed that the Urban Development, Tourism, Industry and Railways should work in tandem to prepare plans for Railway projects in the State. He said that Kumbh Mela will be organised in Haridwar in 2027 and for this a plan for extension and up- gradation of Jwalapur Railway station should be prepared for better crowd management during the Kumbh.

 Principal secretary R Meenakhi Sundaram, additional secretary Vineet Kumar, Reena Joshi and others also attended the meeting.
