CS directs districts to prepare development plan for next 10 years

Chief secretary Anand Bardhan has directed that all the districts should set up development goals for themselves in different sectors for the next 10 years. Chairing a meeting of secretaries committee at the secretariat on Tuesday, he said that in the recent meeting of the governing council of the NITI Aayog, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said that work needs to be done on Viksit village, Viksit city and Viksit district concepts for achieving the target of Viksit Bharat 2047.
In the meeting the PM had asked every State to select a place and develop that as per the global standards, the CS said. Bardhan directed the officers to start working on this concept. He said that efforts should be made to increase the export of the local products and directed the department of Industries to prepare a plan for this.
The CS said that the 21st century is the industry driven century and efforts should be made to take the benefit of the government schemes to the general public by making maximum use of modern technology. Emphasising on the importance of the electric vehicles sector, the CS directed that work in this field should be done in the State. He said that there is a need to connect education with skill development for training in new techniques in future.
In the meeting the CS said that Vedic Mathematics should be promoted in the State and for this the Higher Education, Primary and Secondary Education departments should work in tandem. He directed that the digitisation of the manuscripts should be done and asked the Culture department to conserve the manuscripts both physically and digitally.
The CS also emphasised on the need for preparing a State Computer Emergency Response Team with the help of Home and Information and Technology departments. The CS directed all the district magistrates to earmark long pending and legacy issues and sent them to the departments concerned. He said that efforts will be made to dispose of these issues at the highest level.
Bardhan also asked the officers to ensure that the World Environment Day is celebrated at a large scale in the State on June 5 and handed over the task to principal secretary of Forests RK Sudhanshu. He said that the appeal of PM Modi to plant one tree in the name of mother should be followed and a campaign for the purpose should be undertaken.
