CS Bardhan orders timely completion of Jamrani & Song dam projects

Chief secretary Anand Bardhan reviewed the progress of Jamrani and Song Dam projects at the State secretariat on Wednesday. These dams are being constructed by the Irrigation department of Uttarakhand. 

In the meeting, the CS discussed the Jamrani Dam multipurpose project and the Song Dam drinking water project in detail and directed the Irrigation department to complete the projects within the stipulated time frame. He said that all tenders and other necessary procedures in this regard should be completed on time. He said that a flow chart of the entire project should be prepared and each phase should be completed within the stipulated time. The CS stressed on increasing the availability of necessary material to expedite the construction work. Emphasizing on the quality of the work the CS said that first party, second party and third party quality control and evaluation should also be ensured in these projects. 

Bardhan said that the rehabilitation work for those affected by the projects should be completed within a time limit and with promptness. He directed that continuous dialogue should be maintained to ensure that compensation, rehabilitation and allocation work for the affected people is carried out in coordination and trust. 

Secretary Yugal Kishore Pant said that the total cost of the Jamrani Dam multipurpose project is Rs 3,678.23 crore. The project will be completed by June 2029. He added that the Song Dam project is a 130.60 meter high, 150 MLD gravity-fed drinking water project, costing Rs 2,524.42 crore. Its construction will be completed by November 2029.
