In 2014, a police station came up to curb crimes in the Halduchaur area of Haldwani. But the reality is different. The crime graph is rising fast and the people are scared. They allege that police have failed to curb crimes and they are feeling insecure with the rate of crime spiraling in the area. The recent abduction case has brought to the fore the police’s failure to instill fear in the criminals. Although police succeeded in rescuing the abducted youth from the clutches of the abductors safely and arrested some of the criminals the common people are still scared and cannot repose confidence in the police. One of the abductors escaped. Police have formed teams to nab him.
