Crime against women & children increasing in U’khand: Rautela

The workers of the State Mahila Congress staged a protest at the Uttarakhand State Commission for Women and State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) at Nanda Ki Chowki on Monday. The protest was led by the president of Mahila Congress Jyoti Rautela.
The protesters also handed over a memorandum directed to the Uttarakhand governor and the chairperson of the State women commission.
Rautela said that the BJP government has failed completely in its promise to provide a society which is free from corruption and fear. She said that last three years have witnessed a spurt in the cases of murder, rape and crime against women. Rautela said that the name of the VIP involved in the murder of Ankita Bhandari is yet to be disclosed and there is clear involvement of leaders of BJP in the cases of crime against women.
She claimed that the increase in the number of cases of crime has created an atmosphere of fear and the women are not finding them safe. In the memorandum the Congress leader mentioned a number of cases of crime against women and children in the State.
Rautela said that BJP leader Anamika Sharma is involved in the case of rape of her daughter and Pulkit Arya who is the son of a BJP leader is the main accused in the Ankita Bhandari murder case. She said that BJP leader Pramod Bisht is the main accused in the rape of a minor dalit girl in Dwarahat while another BJP leader Narendra Gangwar is accused in the rape of minor in Rudrapur. Similarly BJP leader Amit Saini is the main accused in the rape and murder case of a dalit women in Bahadarabad. The chairperson of the Nainital dairy cooperative federation and BJP leader Muskesh Bora is accused in the case of abuse of a 14 year old girl in Almora.
She said that the involvement of BJP leader in the cases of rape and murder has created a sense of insecurity in the society. Rautela demanded that high level impartial inquiry should be ordered in these cases.
