Covid surge: Two deaths, 334 new cases of Covid in U’khand

The increase in the contagion of Covid-19 is again threatening to assume epidemic proportions in Uttarakhand. The state health department reported 334 cases of the disease from different parts of the state on Thursday. Death of two patients from the disease was also reported on the day.  

The authorities also declared 257 patients cured from the disease on the day.  The department has so far detected 97,032 new cases of the disease from January 1 this year till date. A total of 91,920 patients have recovered from the disease so far in this year. The recovery percentage of the disease was at 95.73 per cent on Thursday while the sample positivity rate was at 14.69 per cent. 

On Thursday death of two patients was reported from Mahant Indiresh hospital Dehradun. A total of 289 patients have lost their lives to the disease this year in the state. 

 The health department reported 178 new patients from Dehradun, 70 from Nainital, 17 from Haridwar, 16 from Tehri, , 14 from Pauri, 13 each from Almora and Udham Singh Nagar, four from Chamoli, three each from Bageshwar and Pithoragarh, two from Rudraprayag and one from Uttarkashi district on Thursday. No new cases were reported from  Champawat district on the day. 

The number of active patients of Covid-19 was at 1359 on Thursday. Dehradun with 839 cases is at the top of the table of active cases while Nainital 204 and Haridwar have 64 active cases of the disease.
