High mortality continues to cause concern

In an indication of decreasing intensity of Covid-19 contagion in Uttarakhand, the week ending on October 17 accounted for lowest number of cases and active cases of the disease in the last eight weeks. The first case of the disease was reported in the state on March 15 and after that a time period of 31 weeks has been completed. In the week ending on October 17, a total of 3123 cases of Covid-19 were reported which were the lowest since the 23rd week (August 16 to 22) when 2626 cases were reported. The 31st also saw only 5538 active cases. However the mortality continued to be a cause of concern as 190 deaths were reported during the week which is highest ever in a week. These deaths include 89 deaths which had happened in the past but remained unreported till October 17.
