32 new patients reported, 106 recover from the disease
The number of novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) cases in Uttarakhand reached to 2823 on Sunday with the state health department reporting 32 new patients of the disease on the day. One patient of the disease died on Sunday in Nainital district which further increased the death toll in the state to 38. From different hospitals of the state, a total of 106 patients were discharged on the day which increased the tally of the recovered patients in the state to 2018.
The state health department reported 14 patients of the disease from Nainital. In Dehradun, 10 patients were reported which included a health care worker of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh. Incidentally nine patients reported from Dehradun had no travel history. In Tehri, four patients were reported while two patients surfaced in Chamoli district. One patient each was reported from Champawat and Rudraprayag districts.
A 65 year old male, a positive patient of Covid-19 died at Neelkanth hospital Haldwani on Sunday.
Of the 106 patients discharged from hospitals after their complete recovery, 34 are from Nainital while 32 belong to Tehri district. In Pauri, 14 patients were discharged while seven patients recovered from the disease in Rudraprayag district. In Chamoli, five patients were discharged while four patients each were discharged from Dehradun, Udham Singh Nagar and Haridwar districts. Two patients recovered from the disease in Almora district.
The additional secretary, state health department, Yugal Kishore Pant said that reports of 974 samples were found negative for the disease on Sunday. He added that reports of 3783 samples are still awaited by the department. On the day, a total of 959 samples were collected for COVID -19 testing. The authorities have so far taken swab samples of 64984 suspected patients for COVID-19 test. Out of the total samples taken, 4.81 percent samples have been found positive for the disease. The doubling rate of disease in the state is now at 22.77 days while the recovery percent in the state is at 71.48 percent. A total of 2074588 people have so far downloaded the ‘Aarogya Setu App’ in the state.
The state now has 749 active patients of the disease. With recovery of a large number of patients in Nainital district, Dehradun regained the number one position in the list of active patients with a total of 153 cases. Nainital is at second spot with 127 active patients while with 123 active patients Haridwar is at third position. Udham Singh Nagar has 93 active patients while Pauri and Tehri Garhwal have 60 active cases each. Uttarkashi district now has 27 active cases while Almora and Bageshwar have 25 patients each. In Rudraprayag district 19 active patients are there while 16 and 15 active cases are still there in Chamoli and Pithoragarh districts respectively. Champawat continues at the bottom of the table with six active cases.
The administration has declared 112 areas as containment zones to check the spread of infection in the state. Haridwar district has 69 containment zones while Dehradun district has 29 containment zones. Tehri has 10 while Udham Singh Nagar district has three and Uttarkashi one containment zones.
Quarantine of Harish Rawat ends, Maharaj, family recover
The 14 day quarantine period of former chief minister of Uttarakhand and general secretary of All India Congress Committee (AICC) Harish Rawat ended on Sunday. He had recently travelled from Delhi along with his family to his residence in Dehradun. On completion of the quarantine period Rawat said that he would offer prayers at Raipur Shiv temple on Monday and restart his public engagements. Meanwhile senior cabinet minister Satpal Maharaj, his wife Amrita Rawat and other family members were declared free from the disease on Sunday after their reports were found negative. Maharaj, his wife, family members and many of his personal staff were found infected with the disease on May 31.
