Covid-19; Relief as new cases fall below 1K figure mark

981 new cases, 2,062 recoveries & 36 deaths reported on Tuesday

Uttarakhand reported a record low of new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday with 981 new cases and 2,062 recoveries in the State. The three digit figure in new cases is significant as for the first time the daily number has come below the 1,000 mark in the last one and half months.

The cumulative count of the patients of Covid-19 in the state is at 3,30,475 while a total of 2,90,990 patients have recovered from the disease so far. The state health department reported the death of 36 patients from the disease on Tuesday which increased the death toll to 6497 in the state. A total of 30,624 samples were sent for testing on Tuesday and the sample positivity rate is at 6.85 percent.

Out of the 36 deaths reported on Tuesday, eight  occurred at Mahant Indiresh hospital Dehradun, four at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh and three each Sushila Tiwari government hospital Haldwani, Military Hospital Dehradun and District hospital Pithoragarh.

The provisional state capital Dehradun reported 279, Almora 137, Haridwar 117,  Nainital 113, Chamoli 93,  Udham Singh Nagar 58, Bageshwar 42, Pauri 32, Uttarkashi 28, Pithoragarh 26, Tehri 25,  Rudraprayag 18 and Champawat 13 new cases of the disease on Tuesday.

The state now has 27,216 active patients of the disease. Haridwar is the top position in the list of active cases with 7,373 cases. Pauri overtook Dehradun with 2924 active cases and is now in second spot. Dehradun has 2812, Chamoli 2,159, Udham Singh Nagar 2,065, Pithoragarh 1,770, Tehri 1,540, Nainital 1,591, Rudraprayag 1,153, Almora 1,138, Bageshwar 1,028, Uttarkashi 913 and Champawat has 750 active cases of the disease. 

The state reported 16 new cases of Mucormycosis ( Black Fungus) and three deaths from it Tuesday. The count of the Black fungus cases has now become 237 and out of them 20 have died while 13 have recovered from the disease.

To contain the contagion of Covid-19, the state administration has set up 321 containment zones in different parts of the state. In the ongoing vaccination drive 15,648 people were vaccinated in 316 sessions in different parts of the state on Tuesday. A total of 6,83,440 people have been fully vaccinated while 22,46,664  have received the first dose of the vaccine in the state.
