Covid-19-New patient count dip sharply in U’khand

395 new cases, 2,335 recoveries reported on Monday

In a major relief on the front of contagion of Covid -19 in Uttarakhand,  the number of new cases of the disease  fell below 400 figure mark for the first time in more than two months. The state health department reported 395 new cases of Covid-19 and 2,335 recoveries from the disease on Monday. With this the cumulative count of novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) and number of recoveries has increased to 3,34,419 and 3,07,574  respectively in Uttarakhand.

The authorities also reported the death of 21 patients on the day which increased the death toll to 6,731 in the state. The samples of 23,271 suspected patients were sent for testing on Monday and the sample positivity rate is at 6.72 per cent. The recovery percentage from the disease in the state is 91.97 per cent. 

Out of the 21 deaths reported on Monday four each occurred at Mahant Indiresh and Military Hospital Dehradun while three deaths were reported from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh. Similarly death of two patients each occurred at Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital, Sushila Tiwari government hospital Haldwani and LN Bhatt hospital Kashipur, Udham Singh Nagar on the day.

 The authorities also added 11 deaths in the toll which had occurred in the past but were not reported earlier. Incidentally all these deaths were reported from Haridwar district.

The provisional state capital Dehradun reported 94, Almora 64, Haridwar 62, Udham Singh Nagar 39, Nainital 35, Tehri 23, Chamoli 22, Pauri 18, Pithoragarh 12, Champawat 11, Uttarkashi 10,  Rudraprayag three and Bageshwar two new cases of the disease on Monday.

The state now has 14,122 active patients of the disease. Haridwar is the top position in the list of active cases with 2,229 cases. Pauri has 1644, Nainital 1,319, Pithoragarh 1,247, Udham Singh Nagar 1,143, Bageshwar 1,082,  Tehri 1,074, Chamoli 981,  Dehradun 972,  Almora 965, Uttarkashi 582, Champawat 537 and Rudraprayag 387 active cases of the disease.

 The state has so far reported 304 patients of Mucormycosis (Black fungus) and out of them 48 have died while 18 have recovered from the disease.

In the ongoing vaccination drive 24,432 people were vaccinated in 467 sessions in different parts of the state on Monday. A total of 6,88,337 people have been fully vaccinated while 23,84,552  have received the first dose of the vaccine in the state.
