Covid-19: Highest single day recovery improves the recovery rate of the state
246 new cases, three reported dead on Wednesday
The number of novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) patients in Uttarakhand increased to 8254 on Wednesday with the state health department reporting 246 patients of the disease. Three patients of the disease were reported dead on the day by the authorities. In good news amid the gloom a total of 386 patients were discharged from different hospitals after their recovery on the day. This is the highest single day recovery in the state ever since the first case of the disease was reported in the state on March 25 this year. A total of 5233 patients have so far recovered from the disease and the recovery rate has now improved to 63.42 percent.
In Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) Hospital one 62 year old male was reported dead on Wednesday. Similarly a 50 year old male expired at Base hospital Haldwani on the day. At All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Rishikesh, a 29 year old male was reported dead on Wednesday.
In a disturbing development 66 patients were reported from mountainous Uttarkashi district on the day. In this district 30 Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel were found infected with Covid-19. The health department reported 50 patients in Nainital, 47 in Dehradun, 36 in Udham Singh Nagar and 20 patients in Haridwar district on the day. The authorities reported nine patients in Pauri, six in Rudraprayag, five from Tehri, three in Chamoli, and two in Almora and one each in Champawat and Bageshwar districts on Wednesday.
On the day 127 patients were discharged in Udham Singh Nagar district. Similarly 87 patients in Haridwar, 76 in Nainital, 40 in Dehradun, 22 in Almora, nine in Uttarkashi, eight in Tehri, seven in Pithoragarh, four each in Champawat and Bageshwar were discharged on Wednesday. One patient each was discharged in Pauri and Chamoli districts on the day.
The state now has 2885 active patients of the disease with Haridwar continuing its top position in the table of active cases with 748 cases followed by Udham Singh Nagar district which has 692 active cases. Nainital is in third position with 562 active cases while Dehradun is in fourth position with 415 active patients of Covid 19. Uttarkashi has 132, Pithoragarh 97, Champawat 56, Pauri 47, Tehri 20, Almora 45, Bageshwar 35 Pauri 39, Bageshwar 38, Tehri 20 while Chamoli and Rudraprayag 18 active cases each of Covid-19.
The surge of patients has forced the administration to set up 369 containment zones to prevent the spread of the disease. In Haridwar district alone 326 containment zones have been set up. Udham Singh Nagar district has 28, Dehradun 10, Uttarkashi three while Bageshwar and Champawat have one such zone.
