120 new cases reported on Sunday, tally reaches 3537
The contagion of the novel Coronavirus ( Covid-19) hit an upward path on Sunday as the health department reported 120 new cases of the disease. The surge in the cases took the tally of the Covid-19 affected patients to 3537 on Sunday. The authorities released 68 patients of the disease from different hospitals of the state on the day after they recovered from the disease. Out of total 3527 positive cases 2786 patients have recovered from the disease in the state so far. The recovery rate dipped slightly on Sunday to 78.77 percent. A total of 94121 samples of the suspected patients have so far been collected by the health department in the state so far. Out of the total samples tested4.10 percent samples have been tested positive in the state.
A 54 year old male who died at the Sushila Tiwari government hospital, Haldwani, Nainital on Saturday was found positive for the disease on Sunday. With this the death toll from Covid-19 in the state has climbed to 47.
On Sunday 40 patients of the disease were reported from Udham Singh Nagar district. Here 18 people got infected by an earlier detected patient. In Dehradun 35 patients were reported by the authorities. The department reported 18 patients from Haridwar and 13 from Nainital district on the day. In Champawat six, Pauri four, Tehri and Bageshwar two cases each were reported. In Dehradun 14 persons who had attended the marriage of a Kanwali road resident on June 29 were found positive for Covid-19 on Sunday. Incidentally the bridegroom was found positive for the disease after his marriage and is admitted in the hospital. After he was tested positive, the administration had sent 16 of his family members and friends to institutional quarantine. On Sunday 14 out of these 16 people including the bride were found positive for the disease. One doctor based in Mussoorie was also found positive for disease on Sunday.
Meanwhile in a positive sign for Nainital, 60 patients of the disease were discharged from different hospitals of the district while eight patients were discharged in Uttarkashi district.
The state now has 674 active patients of the disease admitted in different hospitals. With sudden spurt in the number of cases Udham Singh Nagar dislodged Nainital from the number position in the list of Covid-19 active cases. Udham Singh Nagar now has 221 active cases of the disease. Dehradun with 170 active cases are at second position and by discharge of 60 patients on Sunday Nainital slipped to number three position with 136 active cases.
Haridwar has 56 active patients now. Uttarkashi and Almora 19 have active patients each, Pauri and Champawat 17 active cases each and Tehri has 10 active cases now. Pithoragarh has five active cases of the disease, Bageshwar two while Chamoli and Rudraprayag have one active case each of the disease. The administration has declared 84 areas as containment zones to prevent the contagion of Covid-19 from spreading. Haridwar has 60, Udham Singh Nagar 13, Dehradun four, Nainital two and Tehri one containment zones.
