Only 388 new cases, 15 deaths reported on Thursday

The state health department of Uttarakhand reported the lowest number of new cases in the last two months on Thursday. On the day, 388 new cases of the disease and 15 deaths were reported. The authorities also reported 3242 recoveries from the disease on Thursday. The state now has 3,35, 886 (cumulative) patients with the disease while a total of 6878 patients have succumbed to the disease so far. A total of 3,16,621 patients have so far recovered from the disease and the recovery percentage has climbed to 93.27 percent. The samples of 23,538 suspected patients were sent for testing on Thursday and the sample positivity rate is at 6.67 percent.

Out of the 15 deaths reported on Thursday, three occurred at  All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh and Brijlal hospital Nainital. The authorities also added 14 deaths in the toll which had occurred in the past but were not reported earlier. Eight such deaths were reported from AIIMS Rishikesh alone.

The provisional state capital Dehradun reported 94, Nainital 60, Haridwar 56, Udham Singh Nagar 30, Chamoli 28, Almora 24, Rudraprayag 22, Bageshwar 15, Pauri, Pithoragarh and Champawat 14 each,  Uttarkashi 10 and Tehri seven new cases of the disease on Thursday.

The state now has 6,641 active patients of the disease. Pauri district is now at top of the table in the list of active cases with 1,108 cases while Haridwar now is in second position with 1,107 active cases. Nainital has 772, Pithoragarh 672,  Almora 572, Tehri 400, Dehradun 392, Chamoli 376,  Bageshwar 321, Rudraprayag 271, Uttarkashi 253, Champawat 200  and Udham Singh Nagar 197 active cases of the disease.

 The state reported 21 new cases of Mucormycosis (Black fungus) on Thursday after which it now has 356 patients of the disease. Death of six patients from Black Fungus was also reported on the day. A total of 56 patients have so far died from this disease while 31 have recovered. In the ongoing vaccination drive, 48,290 people were vaccinated in 467 sessions in different parts of the state on Thursday. A total of 6,91,360 people have been fully vaccinated while 25,07,684  have received the first dose of the vaccine in the state.
