Covid-19 cases continue to soar in U’khand

3,200 new cases, three deaths reported on Friday

The cases of the Covid-19 in Uttarakhand are continuing to increase with an alarming pace in Uttarakhand. After 2,915 and 3,005 cases on Wednesday and Thursday respectively, the state health department reported 3,200 new cases of the disease on Friday. This the highest number of daily cases since the department had reported 3626 cases on May 21 last year. The numbers of active cases of the disease have now climbed to a whopping 12,400 in the state.

The department also reported the death of three patients of the disease on the day. The positivity rate (PR)  of the infection continued to increase and was reported at 11.48 per cent on the day. As the guidelines of World Health Organisation (WHO), a PR of more than five per cent is considered dangerous.

The cumulative count of Covid-19 patients in the state is now at 3,63,424 while a total of 3,36,353 patients have recovered from the disease so far. A total of 7,438 people have died in the state so far from Covid-19. The recovery percentage from the disease is 92.55 per cent. On Friday death of one patient each was reported from HNB base hospital Srinagar and Hans foundation general hospital Satpuli Pauri on Friday. One patient was reported dead in Haridwar. 

The state health department reported 1,030 new patients from Dehradun, 543 from Haridwar, 494 from Nainital, 429 from Udam Singh Nagar, 165 from Almora, 131 from Pauri, 112 from Tehri, 62 from Uttarkashi, 58 from Pithoragarh, 52 from Rudraprayag, 46  from  Champawat, 40 from Chamoli and 38 from Bageshwar on Friday. 

The active case count of Covid-19 in the state has now jumped to 12,349. Dehradun with 5,199 cases is at the top of the table of active cases while Haridwar  has 2,010 active cases of the disease which is followed by Nainital district with 1,936 active cases. Uttarkashi is at the bottom of the table with 82 active cases of the disease.  In the ongoing vaccination drive 35,596 people were vaccinated in 1,212 sessions in the state held on Friday.
