Four including two forest officers killed in accident

Four people including two forest officers were killed after the vehicle carrying them fell into the canal in the Chilla area near Rishikesh on Monday evening. The victims include the Chilla forest range officer Shailesh Ghildiyal, brother of the deputy secretary of Prime Minister’s Office Mangesh Ghildiyal and Pramod Dhyani besides the driver Saif Ali Khan and a man named Kulraj Singh, as per the officials. They said that a team of about six to eight people including forest officers and employees were taking a trial of a vehicle but it reportedly overturned after hitting a tree on the roadside due to which the two officers sitting in the vehicle fell straight into the canal. Two lost their lives on the spot while two died during treatment in AIIMS- Rishikesh. Four men were injured while two people who fell into the canal remained missing till late evening. The police reached the location soon after getting the information and a team of divers from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) were also searching for the missing people till late in the evening. The vehicle belonged to the Forest department’s jungle safari and it was being speculated that the accident occurred after one of the tyres burst. However, the police said that they are investigating the matter and it will be too soon to comment on the exact cause of the accident.
