Heat wave in some, light rain in other areas today

Some parts of the State may experience heat wave conditions while some may receive light rain on Thursday. The State meteorological centre has issued an alert regarding the possibility of heat wave conditions likely to occur at a few places in the mountains and at isolated places in the plains today. Apart from this, very light to light rainfall/thunderstorm is likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Nainital and Champawat districts today. Dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts of the State with strong gusty surface wind likely to occur during daytime at a few places. The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to experience mainly clear sky with the maximum and minimum temperatures likely to be about 40 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius respectively on Thursday. Meanwhie, the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Wednesday were 40.3 degrees Celsius and 26.4 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 39.6 degrees Celsius and 26.5 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 29.1 degrees Celsius and 17.5 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 29 degrees Celsius and 21 degrees Celsius respectively in New Tehri.
