Covid-19 : 4,818 new cases, 4 deaths in U’khand on Thursday

The numbers of the Covid-19 cases are continuing to increase at an alarming pace in Uttarakhand. On Thursday the state health department reported 4,818 new cases of the disease. The earlier higher caseload was on May 15 last year when 5,654 cases of the disease were detected. The department also reported the death of four patients of the disease on the day.

The cumulative count of Covid-19 patients in the state is now at 3,86,951 while a total of 3,47,175 patients have recovered from the disease so far. A total of 7,460 people have died in the state so far from Covid-19. The recovery percentage of the disease further dropped to 89.72 per cent while the positivity rate increased to 14.23 per cent on Thursday.

Death of two patients was reported at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh  while one patient each died at Mahant Indiresh hospital Dehradun and Vinay Vishal Health Care Roorkee, Haridwar on Thursday.

The state health department reported 1,601 new patients from Dehradun, 706 from Haridwar, 692 from Nainital, 590 from Udham Singh Nagar, 291 from Almora, 181 from Pauri, 161 from Tehri, 158 from Chamoli, 106 from Bageshwar and Pithoragarh each, 101 from Rudraprayag, 63 from Uttarkashi and 62 from Champawat on Thursday.

The active case count of Covid-19 in the state has now jumped to 24,255. Dehradun with 10,124 cases is at the top of the table of active cases while Nainital has 3,435 active cases of the disease which is followed by Haridwar district with 3,389 active cases. Uttarkashi is at the bottom of the table with 74 active cases of the disease. 

 In the ongoing vaccination drive 34,916 people were vaccinated in 1,102 sessions in the state held on Thursday.
