Covid-19 – 36 new cases, highest daily tally after 2.5 months

A total of 36 new cases of Covid-19 were reported in the state on Sunday, marking the highest number of cases in a single day in about two and a half months. According to information from the Health department, while 36 new cases were reported in the state, 10 patients of Covid recovered on Sunday. The total number of active cases in the state is now 176 with a recovery percentage of 96.01.

Experts have expressed concern and called for caution following the cases detected on Sunday. Social Development for Communities (SDC) Foundation foundation, Anoop Nautiyal said that the 36 cases detected on Sunday was the highest single day tally in the state after about two and a half months. Before this, the highest single day tally was on September 15 when 49 cases were reported.

Out of the cases detected on Sunday, 19 were from Pauri district, seven from Nainital, five from Dehradun, two each from Almora and Haridwar, and one from Udham Singh Nagar. When it comes to the number of active cases, Dehradun district has 94, Haridwar has 21 while there are 20 active cases in Pauri, 14 in Nainital, nine in Almora, two each in Chamoli and Pithoragarh, eight in Udham Singh Nagar and six in Uttarkashi. There are zero active cases in Rudraprayag, Tehri, Champawat and Bageshwar districts.

Presently, there are two containment zones in the state and both of these are located in Dehradun- one at the Tibetan Colony on Sahastradhara Road and the other at IGNFA, Forest Research Institute.

Meanwhile, 576 vaccination sessions were held in the state on Sunday in which a total of 28,357 beneficiaries were vaccinated.  A total of 75,72,562 beneficiaries have been partially vaccinated while 49,67,513 have been fully vaccinated. Further, 45,72,786 beneficiaries in the 18-44 years age group have been partially vaccinated while 25,82,139 beneficiaries in the same age group have been fully vaccinated.
