The court of additional district and session judge will hear the Ankita Bhandari murder case next on July 27. The case was set for hearing on Monday. However, advocate Jitendra Rawat was removed from the position of special prosecution officer on the request of the victim’s father and the new SPO has not been appointed in his place. Ashutosh Negi, the person who had played a vital role in exposing the case said that the hearing will be held next on July 27. Negi said that the appointment of a new special prosecution officer has not been done yet by the State government.
It is pertinent to mention here that Virendra Bhandari, the father of the victim had alleged in the memorandum he had submitted to the Pauri district magistrate that the special prosecution officer Jitendra Rawat was not doing justice to his responsibility in the case and was trying to save the accused in the murder. He had demanded that Rawat should be replaced before the next date of hearing of his daughter’s murder case. The district magistrate Ashish Chauhan had sent the memorandum to the chief Minister after conducting an inquiry into the matter. Recently the State government removed Rawat from the position of SPO in the case but the new SPO has not been appointed yet.
