Cooperative department to organise Cooperative Fairs in all the districts

The Cooperatives department will hold Cooperative Fairs in all the districts of the State from October 3 to December 31. The department has also set up different themes for the fairs in different districts.
The Cooperatives minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that the United Nations Organisation (UNO) has declared 2025 as the International Year for Cooperatives with a theme ‘Cooperative build a better world’. He said that many programmes are being organised in the State to mark the International Year of cooperatives.
The minister informed that the department will now organise mega Cooperative Fairs in all the districts of the State. He said that the objective of these fairs is to strengthen the local economy and promote the rural economy. The fairs will provide a direct market to the farmers, artisans, women self-help groups and cooperative societies. The exhibition of the different schemes of the department and other interdepartmental projects will also be done in the fairs.
The minister claimed that apart from giving a new direction to the rural economy, the Cooperative Fairs will provide recognition and encouragement to the local goods.
He said that the participation of local MPs, MLAs, Mayors, district Panchayat presidents, chairpersons of the urban local bodies, block Pramukhs, local representatives and people associated with the cooperative movement will be ensured in these fairs.
The minister said that the fairs will be organised for five days in mountainous districts while in the plain districts the duration of the fair will be seven days.
The Cooperative Fair will be organised in Almora (October 3 to 7), Pauri ( October 7 to 13), Bageshwar ( October 13 to 17), Rudraprayag ( October 24 to 28), Pithoragarh ( October 29 to November 2), Chamoli ( November 3 to 7), Champawat ( November 14 to 20), Uttarkashi ( November 15 to 19), Nainital ( November 25 to December 1), Haridwar ( December 2 to 8), Udham Singh Nagar ( December 6 to 12), Tehri ( December 13 to 19) and Dehradun ( December 20 to 26).
He said that the officers have been directed to make all the preparations for the successful organisation of the fairs.
