The construction of the blood bank at Deen Dayal Upadhyay district hospital is expected to be finished in about five to six months. Informing about this, the medical superintendent of the hospital Dr VS Chauhan said that 50 per cent of the construction work has already been completed.
The blood bank’s two-story structure has been constructed and it is expected that the entire construction will be completed within the next five to six months. He also said that once the blood bank is completed, the equipment and infrastructure will be purchased and an application for a blood bank license will also be submitted. Additionally, staff including pathologists, medical officers, lab technicians and other necessary personnel will be hired to operate the blood bank, he said.
It is pertinent to mention that following the directive of the Dehradun district magistrate the hospital administration had submitted a proposal for the blood bank to the State administration, which was approved recently. Officials had earlier informed that the State administration had issued a tender for the construction of the blood bank to Peyjal Nigam.
