RaGa to start 3,500 km long Yatra from Kanyakumari

The national spokesman of All India Congress Committee Adil Singh Boparai has said that after the huge success of the Halla Bol rally at Ram Lila grounds in New Delhi, the Congress party is starting its Bharat Jodo Yatra on September 7.  Addressing media persons at Rajiv Bhawan here on Monday Boparai said that direct interaction would be held with the people of the country during the Yatra which would cover 3,500 kilometres in 150 days. Emphasising on the importance of the Yatra, the Congress spokesman said that the people of the country had a very bad experience of spiralling prices, increasing unemployment and dismantling institutions during the eight years of rule of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that Bharat Jodo Yatra focuses on three major problems of the country, the economic disparity, social discrimination and over-centralisation of political power in the country. The Congress leaders said that while the people of India are reeling under ever-increasing prices, the famers are under the burden of loans. PM Modi has gone on a spree of selling the assets of the country to his billionaire friends. Accusing the BJP government for hatching new conspiracies to increase animosity in the country, he said that an atmosphere of fear prevails in the country as the divisive forces of weakening the social fabric of the nation. Dwelling on the objectives of Bharat Jodo Yatra, Boparai said that forging unity among the people, raising voice against the economic disparities, divisions in society and misuse of central agencies, setting up a dialogue with the people of the country and strengthening social harmony are the four major objectives of the Yatra.

He said that the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi would offer homage to former PM Rajiv Gandhi at his memorial in Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu on September 7. The Yatra would officially commence on the evening of September 7 with a public meeting at Beach road and on September 8 the Pad Yatra would commence from Vivekananda institute at Kanyakumari. Programmes would be organised in all State capitals, districts and block headquarters on September 7 and Yatras would be taken out in all major cities and State capitals of the country on September 8.
