Former chief minister and senior Congress leader Harish Rawat said that the party high command choosing Haldwani as one of the 10 cities in India to organise the Jai Hind Sabha is a matter of pride for Uttarakhand. The event to be held on June 1 at the Ramlila Maidan here is to honour the bravery of Indian soldiers during Operation Sindoor. He said that the brave soldiers who had fought for the country will also be honoured at the programme, Rawat said.

Pradesh Congress Committee president Karan Mahara said the State government had failed to get justice for Ankita Bhandari and is now playing politics on the bravery of the Indian armed forces. Leader of the opposition in the Vidhan Sabha, Yashpal Arya, Haldwani MLA Sumit Hridayesh, State in-charge Surendra Sharma and other party leaders were also present on the occasion.
