PIONEER NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun

Uttarakhand Congress will organise a Jai Hind Rally in Haldwani on May 31 to express gratitude to the armed forces for the success of Operation Sindoor. The party will also organise such rallies in other parts of the State. A decision in this regard was taken in a virtual meeting of the senior leaders of the party on Tuesday.

The meeting was chaired by the party’s State in-charge Kumari Selja. In her address she asked all the leaders to work for the success of these rallies. She said that in an attempt to take credit for the success of armed forces, the ruling BJP has ended up insulting the armed forces and soldiers. Selja said that the utterances of the deputy chief minister and a minister in Madhya Pradesh has exposed the BJP. She said that it is unfortunate that neither the Prime Minister nor BJP president have taken any action against such leaders.

The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara claimed that the Jai Hind rally in Haldwani will be historic. He said that after the success of the Samvidhan Bachao rally of Dehradun the morale of the Congress workers is very high. Mahara also informed the in-charge about the preparations of the party for the upcoming Panchayat elections.

Member of the Congress Working Committee, Gurdip Sappal said that the manner in which Congress stood firmly behind the government and the armed forces during Operation Sindoor has given a positive message to the public. He said that the attempts to take credit for the success of the army by the Modi government and BJP has presented a negative image of the party.

The meeting was also addressed by former CM Harish Rawat, former PCC presidents Pritam Singh and Ganesh Godiyal, vice president Suryakant Dhasmana, deputy leader of Congress legislature party Bhuwan Kapdi, former MP Pradeep Tamta, party MLAs and other leaders.
