The chief spokesperson of Uttarakhand Congress Garima Dasauni has questioned the removal of the finance officer of Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC). She said that the finance officer Anand Singh was given sudden marching orders at a time when the Yatra was going on. She said that the post of finance officer was created on the request of the last board of BKTC for better financial management. Saunani said the State administration appointed senior officer of State finance service Anand Singh as finance officer of BKTC.
She claimed that when Singh started putting a rein over the financial irregularities a situation of panic got created in the temple committee. Dasauni said that the corrupt system targeted Anand Singh after the new chairman was appointed and ensured his removal.
The Congress leader said that as per the regulations created for appointment of employees in the BKTC, the post of the CEO should be given to a senior officer of PCS or junior officer of IAS cadre. “ The regulation clearly mentions that the CEO must be a class I gazetted officer but the person who is currently holding the post is not even a class II gazetted officer,’’ she said.
The Congress leader claimed that the finance officer objected to the decision of the CEO to give benefits of assured career progression (ACP) to 40 employees. He also suspended the tenders of the construction works after finding irregularities and detected discrepancies in the bills and vouchers of the purchases made by the committee. She said that instead of taking action on the irregularities detected by the finance officer, the BKTC removed him.
