Congress pretending concern after doing nothing for decades- BJP

Tuesday, 01 February 2022 | PNS | Dehradun

Those who had never done any work for the Char Dham are now making hollow promises of Char Dham- Char Kam. Former Union minister and ex-CM Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ said this while targeting the Congress here on Monday. Addressing the media, he said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guidance, the BJP government had executed unprecedented works in the state which are known well to the people. However, the Congress and opposition parties are unable to see this as they have purposely shut their eyes to these works.

Nishank said that during the five years of the BJP government, an unprecedented level of work had been done in the education, health, road-rail and communications connectivity, employment, tourism and almost all sectors. Compared to Rs 836 crore being spent on health in 2017, a sum of about Rs 3,000 crore has been allocated to the sector now. By bringing all families in the state under the ambit of the Centre’s Atal Ayushman Yojana, the BJP government has actually acted on its concern for the people. More than four lakh people have benefitted from this scheme so far in Uttarakhand. The BJP governments have also facilitated establishment of AIIMS in Rishikesh, medical colleges in Srinagar, Haldwani, Dehradun, Almora and paved the way for construction of AIIMS satellite centre in the Kumaon region. “Our government ensured cent per cent vaccination during the Covid pandemic to save lives. About 15 lakh families were provided free ration for two years while 4.25 lakh free cooking gas connections were provided under the Ujjwala Yojana,” said Nishank while also speaking about the other major decisions and works of the state government during its five-year term.

He accused the Congress of consistently ignoring the soldiers and their welfare for the many decades it was in power. Now in view of the elections, the Congress is pretending to be concerned about soldiers and ex-servicemen, he alleged.

Meanwhile, party rebels in Doiwala constituency who were set to contest the election as independent candidates- former BJYM head Saurabh Thapliyal, former district Panchayat head Subhash Bhatt and former Pradhan Rahul Panwar also announced the withdrawal of their nominations. Nishank informed that from Haridwar constituency, Jai Bhagwan Saini, Tek Vallabh and Nitin Sharma along with others in Roorkee constituency had withdrawn their nominations in favour of the BJP candidate.
