The Bharatiya Janata Party has accused the Congress of denting the image of Uttarakhand by spreading propaganda on mismanagement in Char Dham Yatra and wrong statements regarding the law and order situation. The BJP State media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan said that on the one hand the Congress spokesperson is issuing a wrong video regarding the Yatra arrangements and then apologizing, the Pradesh Congress Committee president Karan Mahara, Pritam Singh and other senior leaders are playing politics by making wrong statements regarding the pilgrimage. “It seems the Congress is unable to digest the record number of pilgrims arriving in the State. The Congress appears to be wanting to spread fear among tourists coming here from across India and abroad to prevent them from arriving in Uttarakhand,” he said. Chauhan further alleged that various Congress leaders are trying to defame the State by making baseless statements on the law and order in Uttarakhand whereas the State government is doing better work on this front under chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. The Congress is not seeing the working being done by police to assist the aged and women on the Char Dham circuit. The accused have been arrested in the incidents which the Congress leaders are referring to. The BJP spokesman further alleged that the Congress does not want record number of tourists to arrive in the state and benefit the local residents. The State government is ably handling the record number of people arriving here for the Yatra being held after a break caused by the Covid-19 pandemic but the Congress wants to prevent travellers from arriving in Uttarakhand by spreading wrong information, he said. Keeping some subjects away from politics, Congress and all political parties should cooperate proactively for the development of the State, suggested Chauhan.
